Oscar Fashion: Casee’s Picks (Part 2)

I'm back with the conclusion of my favorite looks from the 82nd Annual Academy Awards!

Demi Moore in Atelier Versace

I absolutely loved Demi’s choice with this Atelier Versace silk organza gown. The layers of flesh-toned fabrics are so rich and delightful. I love the different tones and how well they blend. To wear these neutral colors, so close to her skin color, with a naked neckline is a bold choice, I think; she could have very easily looked washed out and boring, but she made it work. I also love her chocolaty hair color and how it contrasts with the dress. The Von Cleef & Arpels jewels add striking elements without being overdone. She also had a dark Ferragamo clutch with pink stone detailing, which I don’t think you can see very well in these pictures, but it was another delightful accessory. The whole look is very decadent and lovely.

Dame Helen Mirren in Badgley Mischka

I thought Helen Mirren looked positively regal in this beautiful Badgley Mischka gown. From the pictures I’ve seen it looks to be a sort of pale, steely blue which compliments her skin tone wonderfully. I adore the beaded tulle draping and sleeves; it adds such a lovely sparkle while not being too much, allowing for one's attention to be drawn to the gorgeous 125-carat diamond Chopard necklace. Her hair and make-up, I thought, looked wonderful as well. She looked fresh and spirited, and at 64 years old this grande dame proved with ease that red carpet fashion isn’t just for the baby-faced Hollywood starlets.

Mariska Hargitay in Vera Wang

I’m always impressed by Mariska Hargitay on the red carpet, and her Oscar look is no exception. I think she carried the popular “messy” hairstyle quite well; I particularly love the look from the back. Her skin is gorgeous and her make-up always looks wonderful. I love how she can do dark, smoky eyes without it looking too heavy. While the fabric of the Vera Wang gown doesn’t look like it fits the style, in my opinion, I do love the style itself and I think she carries it well. The wrapping effect around the bodice gives the slight impression of an empire waist, which I love. And, of course, her Fred Leighton jewels are phenomenal.

Robert Downey, Jr. in Lanvin

I cannot express how much I loved Robert Downey, Jr.’s blue bow tie; it was perhaps my favorite accessory of the night and the complimenting blue-tinted Oliver Peoples glasses added even more quirky, whimsical charm. (I even loved the sneakers – call me crazy!) I always expect to see something new and fantastically fun from RDJ on the red carpet, and he didn’t disappoint. I love that he can pull off a classic tuxedo look, but also isn’t afraid to do something different like this. I’m not crazy about Susan Downey’s dress, but it looks like there are hints of blue in the midst of all those lines to match Robert’s tie-and-glasses combo and I love the idea behind that. In my opinion, RDJ gave us a great reminder that fashion is about creating our own look – even if that means going beyond the black-and-white.

I hope you all enjoyed my picks. There were some fascinating looks this year, and choosing between them all proved to be a hefty little chore. I loved seeing what the other ladies of SHE chose, and reading the opinions of everyone. I can't wait to see what new and exciting things rest of the year brings!

It's not just you who is impressed with Mariska Hargitay. It is simply breathtaking. And what I most love about Mariska is the naturalness of their beleza.Seu face, eyes and smile are magnificent. What is a beautiful woman.

I love Moore's choice. It looks absolutely perfect on her. I adore the colors and her overall look.

Mirren's dress is lovely on her, but definitely not something I'd wear. She looks SO good for her age. Is she married to Christopher Plummer?

I like Hargitay's choice, but it wasn't my favorite. Her necklace is so lovely! She looked very Princess-e.

Robert Downey Jr., he's something else isn't he? I LOVE the bow tie. What a fashion statement! The glasses are great too, even though they are a little goofy. The shoes may be cool, but definitely not something to wear to the Oscars! Looking at the full body shot with the shoes, tie and glasses is rather clown-ish. Still, he's awesome!

Helen Mirren's married to an American director, Taylor Hackford. She and Christopher Plummer were nominated for the same movie, so I suppose they decided to be each others' date (: She always stays age-appropriate, but she has fun, too. It's refreshing.

Mariska definitely has a natural beauty. She's so radiant!

Jen, I love what you said about RDJ! I agree. The sneakers aren't something to wear to the Oscars typically, but then I think it also makes kind of a fun statement because the Oscars sometimes take themselves TOO seriously. I like that he made a fashion statement while simultaneously having fun with it.

Thanks for clearing that up. I was like ..."I didn't know she was married to him!" lol!

I'm debating on my Part 2 review... *sighs*
