MAC's Tartan Tale

It's officially the holidays! Every year MAC, one of my favorite cosmetics companies, releases a special collection filled with new palettes, beautiful packaging and fabulous exclusives. This year the collection is entitled A Tartan Tale and - as any good Outlander fan will have guessed - it's inspired by Scottish kilts and historic culture, but with MAC's own touch of rocker glam. There's a bit of fantasy, a dash of whimsy and a lot of rich, decadent color. Here's a look at some of my favorite elements from the collection...

Chapter 1: Lip, Eye and Face Kits

Chapter 1: Lip, Eye and Brush Bags

The tartan bags are beautiful and quite different from some of the things I've seen MAC do in the past. The compacts, of course, are my favorite. Here are the two I'm wishing for the most this year...

A Fabulous Fantasy Lip Kit

Love the neutral shades in this palette - Storybook Ending, Imagine This and Heroic Tale. They would look so nice with a smokey eye, and I love that you can play the drama up or down with the dark and light tones.

6 Dashing Lassie Eye Shadows

This eye shadow palette features Once Upon a Time, A Dashing Lassie, Magic Mist, Bronze, Buckwheat and Showstopper.  Again, I'm loving the rich neutrals here.  The colors work so well together, but they would also provide plenty of character on their own as well. And again, it comes in a charming tartan compact.

You can view the entire collection on MAC's web site. What do you think of the theme this year? Have you ever indulged in a MAC holiday palette?

This is so fabulous! I love how they used kilts as inspiration to decorate the products. I'm a little obsessed with the bags, and the shades are so beautiful too!

I think that certainly one of the face compacts will be mine. I'll have to see the other palettes in person to decide.
