St. Patrick's Day Make-Up and Bloggers Day of Silence

With every holiday that has a color associated with it (except maybe Christmas) I have a tendency to match my make-up: orange and black at Halloween, earthy browns at Thanksgiving, pinks and reds for Valentine's Day and - of course! - green on St. Patrick's Day. Since that festive Irish holiday takes place tomorrow I thought I'd do my post a little early and share with you an example of how I incorporate green into my look!

What I used:
Revlon Colorstay liquid make-up in Buff
Revlon Colorstay translucent powder
Urban Decay Primer Potion in Eden
Urban Decay eyeshadow in Homegrown (green) and Polyester Bride (white)
Ulta eyeshadow in Radiant (light green) and Golden Olive
Urban Decay liquid eyeliner in Oil Slick
Maybelline Great Lash mascara in Blackest Black
Drugstore-bought false eyelashes
Generic brown eyeshadow
MAC Blush in Prism
Ulta lip gloss in Sublime

Get the look:

I started, as I always do, with my liquid foundation, translucent power and Urban Decay primer. I usually go for the primer in Sin because I love the color and the shine, but Eden has more of a matte look that I thought would work better with the greens. Then I went for UD's Homegrown shadow, a vibrant and sort of grassy green that's included in the Alice in Wonderland palette. It was a little too bright so I toned it down with Ulta's Golden Olive, a deep green with a brownish gray undertone. I applied that just in the corner with a loose brush and blended it upward to give the green a smokey look. I took a bit of Ulta's light green Radiant on my fingertip and dabbed it over the lid to give a bit more of the matte look. Then I took UD's Polyester Bride, glittery white, to highlight the brow bone. I always like definition at my lashes so I winged out UD's liquid liner; I went for a thick, short wave for a bit of character. Afterward I applied my mascara and false lashes: this was only my second or third time successfully applying lashes, if you can believe it. The next step was to use use my angled brush and generic brown shadow to define my eyebrows. (I like eyeshadow over a pencil for the more relaxed application.) A bit of dusty-rosey blush and a soft, deep gloss and I was done!

Just a note, SHE will be participating in the Bloggers Day of Silence on Friday, March 18 as part of For Japan With Love. We won't be posting on Friday, taking a moment of silence in respect for those who have lost their lives and loved ones as a result of the current devastation in Japan. Our next post by Jenmarie will be up on Monday, March 21.

Please take a moment to visit For Japan With Love for more information on the event. And if you can spare a moment, please visit your country's Red Cross Web site (Americans can visit redcross.org) for more information on how you can get involved and play a part in the recovery efforts for the recent disasters in the Pacific.
Thank you!

You did an incredible job with the green eyeshadow. I feel like it's harder for a lot of women to work with colors like these, you know? Like they don't quite know how to work and blend it to give it a more natural appearance. You look absolutely divine!
