Friday Fame: Reese Witherspoon

"I'm not perfect! I'm human. I make mistakes. But I try to be as conscious as I can about things I should be. If I'm going to do something commercial and mainstream and made for the masses, I just believe you can make those kinds of films with quality - and good ideas and good intentions. There's a lot of negativity out there."

"What gets me is how many women - young women - give up their power and sense of self. Thinking they're going to get more out of life if they take off their clothes and objectify themselves, instead of functioning on the principle that they're smart and capable, that you can be an actress and not be on the covers of T&A magazines. I'm flabbergasted by how many legitimate actresses do that. It blows my mind."

I remember when I first saw Reese Witherspoon in the remarkable film Walk the Line with Joaquin Phoenix. I was impressed by her performance and the chemistry betwwen her and Joaquin (I'm actually slightly obsessed with their relationship in the movie). The film was released in 2005 and although I've only seen a handful of her movies since I've always watched for her in magazines and on the red carpet. Besides her sweet face, darling smile and porcelain-doll like features she also has a very elegant and super girly style that I love. She's always shining when the camera is near!

"I have cellulite. I have stretch marks. I feel intimidated by Victoria's Secret. Hollywood is one of those endless competitions, but it's like running a race toward nothing. There's no winning. You're never going to win the pretty race. I just want to be the best version of myself that I can be."

"Many people worry so much about managing their careers, but rarely spend half that much energy managing their lives. I want to make my life, not just my job, the best it can be. The rest will work itself out."

I hope that you were as touched and inspired as I was by the multiple quotes from Reese that I included. She's very genuine and it seems that she has her head on straight! Hollywood definitely needs more actresses like her.

Do you like her style? Which Reese Witherspoon movie (or movies) are your favorite?

Thanks to R-Witherspoon.com for the photos.

I found her wonderful in Walk the Line. I think she should always be a brunette...even though it wouldn' be her, would it?

Aww... these quotes make me love her even more. For a while there, I just thought Reese was a flash in the pan. Another pretty blond. But, damn - girl is talented. Walk the Line is one of my all time favorite movies.

She's such a charmer! I love how she always seems so upbeat and chipper. She definitely doesn't seem to let drama get to her - which in Hollywood must be incredibly difficult.

Love the pictures/quotes you chose, too! I can't remember which of all her films I've seen, but she gave a great performance in Walk the Line!

Reese Witherspoon always dresses so classy. I agree 100% with her last quote. That too many people end up managing their careers rather than their life. It is sad really, when work is all a person strives to do. Great post!
