On the days you're not busy running around, it's nice to set aside a little time for an at-home manicure that is both relaxing and enjoyable. Make sure you have a clean space to work at, light your favorite candle and maybe play some music or have some flowers nearby to make you extra cheerful. Of course, having the proper tools is important too!
After cutting and shaping your nails to your liking, moisturize your hands using the lotion of your choice. I chose Jergen's Daily Moisturizer. It has the faintest scent and provides 24-hour hydration.
Next I used a Cuticle & Nail Oil by Nubar. I haven't used a cuticle oil in a long time. This weather has been drying out my hands quite a bit, so this little bottle arrived at the perfect time! I love it because it's organic, contains jojoba oil and aids in treating inflamed skins amongst other conditions. After gently massaging the oil around your fingernails be sure to rinse and dry them off before applying your nail polish.
I opted for this classy red shade (470 Red My Lips) by Sally Hansen's Complete Salon Manicure. This polish has seven benefits of a salon manicure in one bottle (base coat, strengthener, growth treatment, color, top coat, chip resistant and gel finish shine) and it was the first time I tried it! The very first thing I noticed was the incredible shine! I still can’t believe how close it looks to a gel manicure. The flawless finish brush also made it so much easier to paint my nails – even when I went to paint my right hand! I'm so happy to finally have the perfect red polish in my collection and a cuticle oil to ensure my hands are looking pretty!
You can pick up your own bottle of the Complete Salon Manicure by Sally Hansen for $7.99 (they're also Buy 1 Get 1 50% off right now!) at ULTA.
How do you prep for a manicure? Do you use any special lotion or cuticle oil?
Disclosure: The Jergen's Daily Moisturizer and Cuticle & Nail Oil was sent to me by Beauty Box 5 in their January box. The Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure nail polish is one of three shades from Influenster which was sent to me complimentary for testing purposes. All opinions are 100% my own.
