I recently went to ULTA and picked up some old favorites and some new items and felt the urge to do a haul since it's been so long since I've done one. I had several coupons on me, plus there were a lot of sales going on at the time so I got everything you're about to see for an amazing deal!
Revlon Colorstay Combination/Oily Skin Foundation - $12.99
I have been wearing this foundation by Revlon in the shade Ivory since 2014. It provides good coverage and it lasts all day while helping to control oily skin. I've often received compliments and questions asking what brand I'm wearing and people are always surprised to hear that it's not a high end brand. While I'm quite happy with this foundation, I have recently discovered and done some research on another foundation and may try it out after I'm done with this bottle. I'll be curious to see which I will prefer in the end.
Real Tehcniques Miracle Complexion Sponge - $6.99
I am absolutely in love with this sponge by Real Techniques. I told a friend of mine I just want to squish it all day! It's been part of my make up routine since around October of last year. As I'm sure many of you are aware, there are several different versions of the beauty blender out there and this is the best one I have tried yet. The flat edge is great for applying foundation all over your face and under your eyes and nose while the precision tip works great for smaller areas and for applying concealer. It's a wonderful and affordable tool that gives you a very even and smooth appearance. I'd highly recommend it!
Essence Waterproof Eyeliner Pen - $2.99
While telling my friend I was bummed that ULTA was out of the Stila Eyeliner in black, she excitedly told me that she found an amazing dupe for it and that it was just a few bucks! To my amazement she pointed out the Waterproof Eyeliner Pen by the brand Essence. It has a felt tip applicator making it easy to apply, and it literally lasts all day! NO smudging or creasing! I've used it a few times already and I think it's safe to say it's my favorite new eyeliner. I also love that Essence products are not tested on animals, something I've been trying to incorporate more of into my collection.
*Please note: I use an eyelid primer by Urban Decay.
Real Techniques Gel Brush Cleanser - $8.99
I spotted this and immediately picked it up as I hadn't heard about this new brush cleanser. The description of the product on the website says, "The concentrate gel allows you to create a lather to get those brushes squeaky clean and as good as new! Recommended for weekly use. It's alcohol-free, non drying and Dermatologist tested for gentleness." I'm excited that they created a brush cleanser specifically for their brushes and can't wait to use it! I will definitely let you all know how it works in a separate post.
Healthy Sexy Hair Sulfate-Free Soy Moisturizing Shampoo - $25.95
I wanted to try a new shampoo and picked this one up for about $5. It was on sale for $12.99 plus I had a coupon. Yeah, $5 for a 33.8 oz shampoo is a wicked deal! I have felt like my hair has been looking a little dry lately, so I thought something moisturizing would do the trick. It has a lot of good nutrients for your hair and is also free of sulfates, and parabens. I've tried it once already and it lathers really well and I liked the way my hair felt afterwards. We'll see if this product ends up on my "favorites list"!
NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick - $6.99
This is a new liquid to matte lipstick by NYX. There are fantastic shades in this collection which made it difficult to choose a color to test the product out. I ended up choosing Pink Lust, which is very much a Barbie kind of pink. It's easy to apply and drys quickly. It really does last all day but I find as the day progresses it dries out a little too much leaving a noticeably unflattering line on the inside of my entire bottom lip. To refresh it you have to wipe it off and re-apply (I tried adding chapstick over it to soften it up but it didn't work). If you can make it until lunch or dinner time, than it's not too bad because most of "touch up" afterwards anyways. I don't know if everyone will experience this but my lips are particularly dry and I even applied my Burt's Bees chapstick prior to applying the lipstick. It's still a gorgeous color but I have to be mindful when wearing it because it does need some maintenance.
